The Johnny Rebs were a cell of the Insurrection based on Earth, mainly in the URNA. Formed in 2494, they harassed the UNSC in convoy raids and guerilla warfare, stealing large amounts of equipment, including Archer Missiles, Point Defense Guns, and even GA-TL1 Longsword fighters. In 2553, the Johnny Rebs stole an estimated 750,000 cR worth of Project Freelancer equipment from a UNSC convoy hauling it to a mountainside base in the Appalachians. Carolina, with the Epsilon AI in tow, came to take back the equipment. Sending a group of infantry to the Rebs as ambassadors, and hoping to resolve the situation peacefully, their hopes were dashed when the Johnny Rebs took the ambassadors as POWs, and summarily executed them.
